50 Shades of Charcoal

I feel like activated charcoal is really one of those bandwagons everyone has been hopping on – and I now completely understand why! It is naturally detoxifying and has been around for ages. I’ve seen products ranging from skin care to teeth whitening to even juices with charcoal in them?! Clearly, activated charcoal is a pretty versatile ingredient.

I decided to give hair care a try. I found the Sydney Byron & Co. Hair Mask at TJ Maxx and figured why not give it a shot for under $10? I couldn’t believe how pleasantly surprised I was. First off, my hair felt so clean. This makes sense, given the packaging advertises the detoxifying benefits. Second, my hair was the softest I have ever felt, post-use. No clarifying shampoo has ever yielded the results I felt from this product.

After my first use, I was entirely sold. Unfortunately, this particular product requires a large amount for each use, so I’m sure I’m going to use it up quickly. What’s even worse… I can’t seem to find it anywhere online! Such a tragedy. On the bright side, there are a ton of companies utilizing activated charcoal in their product lines, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding something similar, such as these:

Let me know your thoughts after trying activated charcoal!
